The 20 million credit legend, fully built: 931 hp of naturally aspirated V12 in an 1,140 kg body. Our max-tune Spa setup, and the honest answer on whether it's worth the money.
Overview
The McLaren F1 is the most expensive road car dream in GT7: 20 million credits in the Legend Cars dealership, S70/2 V12, 6.2 litres, no turbos, no assists, no apologies. Fully built it makes 931 hp naturally aspirated at 1,140 kg, and it's the highest-PP car in this comparison at 786.05.
The question we built it to answer: does it justify double the price of an LFA carrying the same V12 bloodline? The full three-round fight is in the video. This page is the F1's build.
The car it fought: Lexus LFA '10 (S70/3 V12 swap)
The setup
Fully built, everything the tuning shop offers. The F1 takes the complete engine tuning suite (bore up, balance tuning, polished ports, high lift cam, titanium rods and pistons, racing crank, high compression pistons) but no weight reduction and no forced induction. It stays pure NA, which is exactly why it sounds the way it does.
Spa tune (Racing Soft)
- Tyres: Racing Soft front and rear
- Downforce: 180 / 285 · Brake balance 0
- Transmission: top speed 340 km/h, gears left on the auto slider
- Suspension: ride height 113/135 · ARB 2/10 · damping comp 25/25, exp 44/44 · nat. freq 3.30/3.55 · camber 4.0/2.6 · toe 0.07 out / 0.06 in
- LSD (rear): initial 5 · accel 5 · braking 10
- ECU / restrictor: 100 / 100 · Ballast: 0
The 2/10 anti-roll bar split is extreme on purpose. The F1's stock balance at Spa is stubborn understeer, and maximum front compliance with a stiff rear is what finally wakes the nose up. The 4.0 degrees of front camber is doing the same job. The near-open diff keeps it neutral once it's rotated.
On track
The best-sounding modified car in the test. On track, fully built, the NA V12 at full noise is the one we'd rather listen to, and it's the faster car in a straight line. Around Spa it set 2:12.732, took the opening sector off the LFA, then lost the lead in sector two and couldn't answer the swap car's pace to the line.
Verdict
The F1 is still the F1: the purest engine in the game, the pedigree, the poster car. It just never managed to beat its half-price rival in a single round. If the 20 million is about owning the legend, nothing here changes that. If it's about the drive, the cheaper path exists and it's quicker.
